Apple Day craft - cork print apple wreath

Apple Day craft – cork print apple wreath

Posted on August 15, 2014September 6, 2021 by jenny

I can’t help but start thinking about Autumn. The weather has coolled down, the nights are darker quicker and we seem to have our shoes and jumpers on more than the previous week.

I’m really hoping we can go to an event for Apple Day this year. We’ve been playing around with apple crafts and today I’m sharing with you our simple cork print apple wreath. Corks are great for crafting with, they’re a lovely size for small hands to grip, and small enough that you can make a really defined shape.

Materials you will need to make a cork print apple wreath:
corks
red and green paint
black and green permanent markers
paper

How to make a cork print apple wreath:

I let both my children loose with the corks and paint. We talked about circles and apples and colours and things got a little messy!  Then I presented them with a simple wreath shape drawn on a piece of paper and asked them to print inside the circles.

Little Sis just enjoyed stamping and mixing up her colours. Big Brother was a little more measured in his approach and tried to keep within the lines. It was lovely to see them concentrating so hard!

We set their finished wreaths to one side to dry and a little later I added small stalks and leaves.

This is such a great idea. The cork really does make an excellent imprint of an apple. I used to work in a Nursery and we printed with various materials including corks but I don’t think we ever used them for printing apple shapes but it’s so effective, brilliant!
